Frequently Asked Questions
We’re a community-based club run entirely by volunteers. If you can’t find the answer below, reach us at admin@mooroondufc.org or via our Facebook page.
Registration
All registrations are handled through the Squadi app. Register at registration.squadi.com. We strongly recommend downloading the Squadi app to your phone — draws, ladders, team chats, and live scores all come through the app during the season. Important: Any Get Started vouchers or family discounts must be applied at the time of registration. Email admin@mooroondufc.org if you need help.
How to Register for the 2026 Season
All players — U6 through to Over 45s, new and returning — must complete both steps below to be eligible to play in 2026. Please do this as soon as possible so we can finalise grading groups and team allocations.
Step 1 — Complete your PlayFootball registration
1. Go to playfootball.com.au or log into the Squadi app — you’ll see a pop-up prompt to complete your Football Australia registration
2. Search for Mooroondu Football Club
3. Select the appropriate National registration product for your age group
4. Complete your PlayFootball registration in full
Step 2 — Complete your Squadi competition access
1. Return to the Squadi app or registration.squadi.com
2. Complete your Football Queensland competition access as normal
You are not eligible to play until both steps are done.
If you run into any issues email admin@mooroondufc.org
What is Squadi?
Squadi is the official registration platform for Football Queensland. As well as registrations it handles team chats, draws, ladders, live scores, and match day reporting. Download the app to your phone — most club communication during the season comes through it.

Yes! Once you have your voucher, forward it to admin@mooroondufc.org to receive a discount on your payment. More info at https://www.qld.gov.au/recreation/sports/funding/playon
Yes — discounts apply for the second and subsequent family members registering in the same season. The discount must be applied at the time of registration through Squadi.
AGE GROUPS & ELIGIBILITY
Players must be turning 5 years old during the season they wish to play. Age groups are based on the age your child will be on 31 December of that year — not their school grade. For example, if your child turns 10 before 31 December, they play in the U10 age group.
MFC does not currently run a Squirts program. The youngest age group we offer is Under 6.
U6 & U7 — inhouse competition only, all games at our home ground in Thorneside on Saturday mornings, no travel required.
U8 and above — travel is required for away games. Football Brisbane sets the draw and aims for local hubs where possible. On average, half of all games are at home. Travel distances generally increase in older age groups.
Generally the younger age groups won’t need to travel far. Football Brisbane tries to create local “hubs” wherever possible, though this isn’t always achievable due to the number of teams in each area. As your child moves into older age groups, travel distances will increase.
TEAMS & COACHES
We always try to accommodate friend requests. Friends must be born in the same calendar year — football groups by year of birth, not school grade. If a player wants to join an existing team and there is no spare spot, the request can’t be guaranteed. Email admin@mooroondufc.org with your child’s name, preferred team, and friend’s name.
Training times can’t always be confirmed at the start of the season — it depends on coach availability and the players in each team, which isn’t known until teams are formed. It’s a bit of a chicken-and-egg situation!
- U6 & U7 — all teams train on Monday evenings, approximately 5:30pm–6:30pm.
- U8 and above — training days and times vary considerably between teams. Your coach will confirm details at Muster Day.
All teams are coached by volunteers and we’re always grateful for the help! Email admin@mooroondufc.org or speak to someone at Open Day or Muster Day.
GAME DAYS
- MiniRoos (U6–U11) — all games are played on Saturdays.
- U12 and above — game days can vary. Most games are on Saturdays or Sundays, with very occasional Friday night fixtures.
The winter football season generally runs across Terms 2 and 3 of the school year. Junior age groups may start slightly earlier depending on when Easter falls each year.
GEAR & UNIFORMS
Club socks $15 (mandatory, purchased through the club).
Club shorts $25 (mandatory, purchased through the club).
Shin pads — essential, available at any sports store.
Football boots — available at sports stores.
Playing jersey — issued as a team set at the start of the season and returned at the end, not purchased individually.
DURING THE SEASON
Allocations of age groups will be posted closer to the date.
We normal do our best to select a day where we have the greatest number of teams playing at home.
Yes — we hold a presentation evening after the season to celebrate players and families. Every player up to Under 18s receives a participation trophy. The date is announced during the season via Facebook.
Facebook is our primary communication channel — like the Mooroondu FC Facebook page for the latest news, field allocations, and updates. The Squadi app is also essential during the season for draws, ladders, and team messages.
We’re always looking for volunteers! Find us at Open Day or Muster Day, at the canteen on Saturday mornings during the season, or email admin@mooroondufc.org.
